About Raphael

Mr. Sonsino represents businesses of all sizes, from the budding entrepreneur needing to set up an entity to well-established operations.   Mr. Sonsino’s clients encompass a broad range of industries including manufacturing, health care, personal service, telecommunications, retail, energy, and information technology.   Mr. Sonsino often serves as outside General Counsel for his clients, providing all of the services an in-house counsel would provide without the ongoing expense burden.

He began his law career in 1981 as in-house counsel for Tesoro Petroleum, based in San Antonio, and then as in-house counsel for the Southwest Division of Tenneco Oil Company, also in San Antonio.  After a stint with the downtown San Antonio law firm of McCamish, Ingram, Martin & Brown, Mr. Sonsino established a solo law practice in 1987, practicing on his own and subsequently with this wife, Kerry, until 2007, when he merged his practice with Pulman, Cappuccio & Pullen, LLP.

In addition to his law career, Mr. Sonsino has been active in the business sector, having established or participated in a number of ventures, including an asphalt manufacturing and distribution company, an automated test equipment company for the aviation industry, and a signage manufacturing company.  In 2000, Mr. Sonsino founded, and served as General Counsel, Chief Operating Officer, and Vice President of Administration for Kintera, Inc. (formerly, NASDAQ: KNTA), a leading provider of software as a service to the nonprofit industry, until the company relocated to San Diego, California.  Kintera later went public and was purchased by a competitor.

Mr. Sonsino was born in Alexandria, Egypt, and enjoys meeting and representing people from all walks of life and different cultures. Having been raised in a French-speaking home, Mr. Sonsino has an affinity for foreign languages and speaks, with varying degrees of proficiency, French, Hebrew, Spanish, and Italian.  He has served over the years on various boards and committees of civic and religious organizations, including the Jewish Federation of San Antonio, the Eleanor Kolitz Academy, San Antonio Little Theatre, the Jewish Campus of San Antonio, and others. He has received the President’s Award from the Jewish Federation of San Antonio.

Both in 2006 and 2012, Mr. Sonsino was voted by his peers to “San Antonio’s Best Lawyer’s List,” Scene in SA Monthly.
